In this thirty-third edition, the FIMA – Algarve Classical Festival, resumes its mission of promoting access to classical music through a series of 15 concerts guided by the quality and diversity of its programming, as well as the excellence of its invited guests. Under the ‘365 Algarve’ cultural program, these concerts will be extended throughout the Algarve region, guaranteeing a real democratization of access to culture. FIMA will take place over a period of about three months.
The Orquestra Clássica do Sul will be one of the fundamental structures for the realization of these events, providing a very high musical quality base, which will be joined by internationally renowned artists such as violinists Francesca Dego and Pedro Meireles, guitarist Gaëlle Solal, singer Elisabete Matos, the cellist Paulo Gaio Lima, maestros like Martin André and Peter Stark and actor Diogo Infante. The FIMA will also have the presence of invited groups such as the Chilingirian Quartet, the Doppio Ensemble and the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras.
The diversity of the FIMA is not only based on the multiplicity of artistic formations but also on the range of styles, eras and composers, with some concern in supporting contemporary productions (with world premiere works). The FIMA also intends to stimulate the interdisciplinarity between different forms of artistic expression, promoting bridges with the Theater and the Visual Arts, and to make performances in less conventional spaces and in different formats, such as concerts with multimedia support, commented concerts or even wine tastings with music!
