The FIMA 2018 – Festival Internacional de Música do Algarve presents “Iberia”, with thw Orquestra Clássica do Sul directed by conductor Martin André, and with the soloist Gaëlle Solal (Guitar). This concert will be entirely dedicated to the Iberia - Portugal and Spain, two countries united by the music of 'modernist' composers, highlighting the aesthetic and stylistic points of contact and celebrating their specificities.
The biggest surprise in this program will be the absolute debut of the orchestration of the “Suite Al-Gharb (Algarve)”, commissioned by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul. Originally conceived in 1941 as an 8-piece piano suite, this impressionist work describes the portuguese people through sounds of some landscapes and scenes from Algarve. In addition to this, will be presented well known works as the “Concert of Aranjuez” by J. Rodrigo, played by the eminent french guitarist Gaëlle Solal, and the Suite from “Amor Brujo” by M. Falla, which contains, among other issues, the famous "Ritual Dance of Fire”.
The maestro of this concert will be the british Martin André, whose interpretations are always marked by a keen sense of style and contagious energy!
