The FIMA 2018 – Festival Internacional de Música do Algarve presents “Sounds of Destiny” with the Orquestra Clássica do Sul directed by its Principal Conductor, Rui Pinheiro.
The presence of one of the most prestigious Portuguese sopranos - Elisabete Matos, the drama of R. Wagner's music and the inspiring vein of Tchaikovsky make this program a very special one. The Wesendonck Lieder, besides being a masterpiece of the vocal repertoire, is a declaration of love from the composer to Mathilde Wesendonck, his future wife. This work also served as a 'study' for one of his most poignant operas - Tristan and Isolde. Considered by the composer as one of his best works, Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony, with the nickname 'Destiny', was dedicated to Mme. Von Meck, his 'best friend' and an important patron, for whom he developed an almost obsessive platonic relationship!
This program aims to please both lyric singers and lovers of symphonic music and promotes a transversal approach between poetry and music. For lovers of lyrical singing, a concert not to be missed!
